Description

Golden-edged foliage for a tropical accent

Cordyline fruticosa ‘Gold Edge’ features deep green leaves outlined in bright golden yellow. Its distinctive coloring creates year-round interest and adds a lively contrast to mixed beds, entryways, and container arrangements.

This tropical shrub is well suited to warm, frost-free climates and brings a lush, colorful feel to patios and gardens. Grow it in bright, filtered light for the best foliage color, or keep it in a container that can be moved indoors during cold weather.

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant or repot within 4 weeks of arrival. Choose a location with bright, filtered light and rich, well-draining soil. In cooler climates, plant in a container and move it indoors when temperatures are in the 50s at night.

2. Watering: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry, keeping the soil evenly moist but never soggy. Reduce watering during cooler months, and make sure containers drain freely.

3. Pruning: Remove yellow, damaged, or aging leaves as needed. Overgrown stems can be cut back in spring to encourage fresh, fuller growth.

4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in spring and midsummer. Avoid overfertilizing, which may cause brown leaf tips or weak growth.
